blog first, pics later.
Today i went to the Maruyama zoo in Sapporo. It seems this weekend i have gone about 650 km so far. The zoo was nice and the weather was awesome today. Cloudy, not humid, and a little rain in the morning, but i missed that when driving. The zoo was an okay size. It was just depressing to see most of the animals. Most zoos are sad, but Japanese zoos seem to be more so. The saddest animals were the seals and the bears from around the world. The bears were all asleep or just sitting there on their rocks. The seals were just swimming around in the same pattern around their cage. One of them looked like they were blind in one eye and maybe didn't have the other. I cried lightly after seeing that. After the zoo, i went to the Hokkaido Shrine in Maruyama park. It was nice and the trees were very beautiful. After that i went to the recycle store and looked at some of the stuff there. I bought a serving dish to send home. Then i went to Homac next door to get a propane gas container. Apparently you have to fill up your propane tanks for the gas to heat your houses all by yourself. The gas for the cooking and hot water is separate. Glad i was told this by the BOE. I guess that is why they sell them and they sell propane at the gas stations. Then i went to lunch, drove home and went to the hot spring in Kombu. It was nice, but i went into the hot air sauna for a little bit and it hurt. The it hurt to breathe because it was so dry i had to put my towel over my mouth to breathe because at least the towel was wet. It was around 90 degree's Celsius is what it said. I did say that Japanese flavors taste like the real thing, and that is true. But, only if it is the food says it is flavored with the actual Japanese word for the flavor and not the romanized form of it in English. Ichigo sauce is good, sutoraaberii sauce is nasty.
