Above i have included my favorite new Christmas song. Heard it in a good Christmas movie about a year back, but since the season is near, might as well as post it.
Being a person that doesn't drink or smoke in Japan is so weird. I feel socially awkward because people want me to drink when me and my friends go to bars and we meet new people. When we go to karaoke or out to eat in large groups, there are usually all-you-can-drink plans that come with them and if you do drink they are very well-priced -especially since in most countries they do not have all you can drink beer for 2 hours like the do in Japan- but since i only get water usually it is just an expensive inconvenience for me. I am not against drinking, people can do what they want to, but in Japan they don't allow for anybody to just have water at these things so either its all or none on these, so one has to comply with it. The smoking is just annoying and it stinks. No study has ever proved the health benefit of smoking-unlike tea, coffee, and alcohol. I feel sort of like a prude, but if i didn't have to pay for it then i would be okay, but i do and it is just an annoying part of life in a drinking culture. Then because Japanese people need to get drunk to have fun and let their barriers down, the fact that sometimes Japanese people feel off put and think that the person doesn't really want to socialize with them can be problematic at a social level. I am uninhibited enough, if you want to ask me anything, go ahead, i will tell you because i have no problem really with telling the truth about things, and i don't need to get drunk to have fun at karaoke or at a club. It's just the open way i am. I just wish that it wasn't that way for most of the gay populations of the world. You drink and you smoke, and you just have to put up with it if you don't do any of them. Oh well, there was my venting session.
This weekend was okay, some friends went out for coconut soup curry, and that was very good. Grilled eggplant, asparagus, broccoli, and carrots and potatoes in a curry soup base are an awesome combination. I have added some pics at the bottom. Enjoy.
