I was in an article today in the Hokkaido Newspaper, and i have included the pictures and article from it above. Just a quick summary of the article is that it talks about what i did with the kids for my Halloween themed activity-the reading of books, singing and dancing to "Head, shoulders, knees, and toes," and then about talking about the customs of Halloween. In the beginning of the article it talks about having the kids just get used to English versus learning it and then the basic thing that starting next year all the 5th and 6th graders in elementary school are going to start nationally learning English during the year. I am just glad that the photo isn't too bad. Though they did use my entire name, and for some odd reason i just don't like to be referred to by with my middle name included-it's so formal.
Tomorrow is a national holiday called Culture Day. There is going to be a band performance greeting the last SL Express train for the season i believe until next spring- it's an old style steam locomotive with a larger number of passenger cars than the normal trains that go through the station. Then there should be some cultural exhibits and stuff at the town center. At least i get to sleep in during the middle of the week, and it definitely beats having one day off for a holiday than what my friends have. They have the entire week off for tests in Sapporo, and that means that they probably do not get paid for that time.
